About Us
The Organic Grassfed Beef Coalition (OGBC) was assembled amid vibrant debate for the need of quality and validity in scientific education and research of grass-fed organic beef livestock. In the course of its research, the committee revisited long-standing practices and historical theories about the nature of successful organic beef production, so as to place them in the context of modern organic beef research. We hope that the result of our projects will advance the current knowledge in at least two respects. First, it offers a comprehensive perspective of “scientifically-based” organic beef livestock education and methods for researchers, meat quality auditors, and producers who are increasingly interested in its utilization for improving organic meat policies and
practices. Second, the research shows that, within the diverse field of organic beef practices, researchers who often disagree along philosophical and methodological lines nonetheless share much common ground about the characteristics and pursuit of grassfed organic meat quality. This valuable work should therefore be useful for researchers, as well as for producers. Financial support for this coalition is based on grant and membership donation funding.
